An AVEDA Certified Color Educator and co-founder of educational resource platform The Texpert Collective, Kauilani Goodwyn is a professional hairstylist with a passion rooted in hair knowledge. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Kauilani went on to get her cosmetology license at the AVEDA Institute-San Antonio. Her work has been featured in international editorials and on the runways of New York Fashion Week.
For over 14 years, Kauilani has used her talents to not only dress the tresses of celebrities and supermodels, but also to help expand the skill set of fellow stylists by educating them on diverse hair textures. Likewise, her wealth of knowledge extends to her clients who want to better understand their own hair.
Kauilani is a true hair enthusiast with a love for information and research. Shes honed in on her craft through working alongside industry leaders. Advancing her mastery, Kauilani consistently immerses herself in the science and philosophy of hair-care, experimenting with the latest tools and technologies, as well as staying on the pulse of rising trends. Sharmelle Winsett is a native of Pittsburgh, PA. and currently lives in Lees Summit, Mo. She is a graduate of University of Missouri-Columbia, with a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Business Administration. She has 20+ years experience in Sales and Marketing at companies like Johnson & Johnson and Novartis Pharmaceuticals with many awards for her achievements.
During her pharmaceutical career, Sharmelle decided to follow her passion and start her own business venture. Along with her husband, she developed Nature’s Design Hair & Skin Care, LLC., producing all natural hair and skin care products. Her love for the beauty industry and product development, led her to pursue a Cosmetology license in 2009.
Sharmelle is a salon Co-owner (Curly Girl Salon), master stylist, and freelance make-up artist. Sharmelle’s motto is that “true beauty isn’t what we look like on the outside, but rather embracing the unique beauty within each of us”.
This mantra is the fuel behind her latest project. Sharmelle plans to publish a book for children that celebrates diversity in hair textures, and challenge European standards of beauty. It is her desire to arm parents and children with words of affirmation that build healthy and confident self-images.
Sharmelle is a regular staple at New York Fashion Week styling hair, she is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and a recipient of a Woman of Distinction Award, Friends of Yates, Inc.
